Requests for any 911 records can be made directly with the appropriate agency of jurisdiction for a specific incident, which is the most time-efficient way to make a request. (If you do not know the agency of jurisdiction for your incident, use our How Do I? menu and select Search Police Jurisdictions from the dropdown options.) Alternatively, you may make your request to Santa Cruz Regional 9-1-1 by completing our online Contact Us form and specifying in the Comments section which specific records you are requesting. It will help us if you include all known details about a specific incident, such as incident/case number, date, time, location, and nature of the incident. You may also call 831-471-1000 and ask for the Records personnel.
The California Public Records Act (PRA) is a series of laws meant to guarantee that the public has access to records of governmental bodies in California. Anyone can request public documents in California, and a purpose does not have to be stated. Requesting public records can be a maze of rules and forms, and we want to help you through the process. (Please note, according to California Government Section 6253(c), local agencies have 10 calendar days after receipt of a request to initially respond to the requestor.)
